A Book Review for summer reading could not have come at a better time! Summer and reading go hand-in-hand. Thank goodness for Kimberly {over at Book Reader Chronicles}, for all of her lovely reviews. She keeps us informed with books that are popular, and even features up-and-coming authors that are developing book series’. This month is a special edition to the Sylvia Day review she shared with us a couple months back. Here is an inside look into the newest edition to The Cross Fire Series, with a bonus interview with author, Sylvia Day! Enjoy!
With the success of Fifty Shades of Grey Trilogy, many of you are looking for the next thing to read. My recommendation is the Crossfire Series, which dare I say, I enjoyed more than Fifty Shades. The Crossfire series will consist of five books – three of which are currently available for purchase.
The first three books are all from the female protagonist’s point of view. Eva Tramell just moved to New York City with her best friend and has a new job working for a prestigious advertising firm. Before she even begins her first day, Eva gets her first glimpse of Gideon Cross, CEO of Cross Industries, who is the epitome of sexiness, power and wealth. Thus begins the love affair that has capture people around the world.

Bared To You
In the first book of the series, we meet Eva and Gideon and learn that these two beautiful people have dark, tragic pasts. They find something in one another that they have never been able to find in another. Gideon’s dominance brings Eva a type of peace and comfort that she needs to heal, while Eva is a breath of fresh air in Gideon’s controlled, monotone life. Together their passion and devotion to one another gives them hope, but it seems that everyone else in their lives are doing everything they can to keep them apart.
I loved this book. Gideon is an enigma – unlike any male character out there and you can’t help but fall for him throughout this book. He bulldozes himself into Eva’s life and makes a few mistakes along the way. The one thing that is clear is that he needs her just as much as she needs him. There is something so sexy about that kind of vulnerability. I do want to point out is that this series is dark and deals with adult subject matter that is sometimes difficult for some to read.
This second book picks up right where the first one left off. I loved the first half of this book. The main reason being I love Gideon and Eva together. The scenes with just the two of them are my favorites – and not just because of the sex. When they are together, you can just feel that they are meant for one another, but when others try and break them up you begin to wonder if they will make it. I will let you know that you find out Gideon’s secret in this book and it really helps put the pieces together for why he is the way he is. Heart wrenching are the two words that come to mind when I think of this book.
This is by far my favorite book of the series so far. I devoured every word, sentence, page and loved every single minute of it. This book was pretty much perfect. It gave me everything I could ask for and more. My favorite part about this book was that both Gideon and Eva have learned from their mistakes and grown, individually and together as a couple. There are no more secrets or lies between them and it makes their connection that much stronger. This book is what every book should strive for – it made me all warm and giddy inside and there was not one thing I would change.
