Welcome readers to our {weekend} lovelies! Sara and I look forward to this segment, as it gives us a chance to catch up on the things we love in life, slow down a bit, and take a little time out for ourselves.
Last weekend, I was lucky enough to sneak away on a trip to Napa and Sonoma with my husband, Shane, for our 10-year wedding anniversary. Not to brag… but it was truly amazing {hence the snap shot of Chateau St. Jean above}! Though not long enough, it gave me some time to think and actually take in and observe some of my favorite things {wine, food, music, and nature}. It was our first trip in too many years to count, as like most of you, life moves forward too quickly to notice this thing called time. One year ends up turning into three…yikes! One of the things I learned on our trip was really how much I appreciate fall. Though not terribly noticeable in Southern California {but we swear there are some seasonal changes}, the beauty of wine country really exudes the true meaning of fall and it’s “harvest.”
Thankfully, I captured a few pictures on our Simply Happenstance Instagram feed, as my new phone lost all of my pictures except the couple I uploaded. Go ahead and check us out on Instagram! Sara and I love capturing our love of food and life over there, too!
With the inspiring weekend of food and wine still replaying in my mind, I can’t wait to share with you this {weekend} lovelies. I hope you enjoy!
A pretty fun printable is always a must for the holidays. It adds to the decor of the season. Live Laugh Rowe is a super cute DIY and crafty blog. Kelly is a DIY fanatic and always has the perfect creation to post about. Here are two free fall printables.
Sara and I {heart} our furry friends and we have a special love for dogs. If you follow Anthropologie on Instagram, lately they have been posting lovely grams of fans and their dogs. The grams are simply amazing and very cute! I myself have a Boston Terrier, Lulu, who is still spirited and our love at 11 years old, so of course a favorite of mine is this picture. Now I have to be creative and see if I can get Lulu to do something adventurous.
Who doesn’t love a steamy cup of hot chocolate? A favorite in our house as an afternoon snack on a chilly day. Add in Pumpkin Spice and you have a fantastic fall treat. This Pumpkin Spice Hot Chocolate reminds me of the big coffee mugs that I saw at the lovely Dean & Deluca in Napa. Yum!
Bored of your frames like I am. Need something new and fresh that you will actually wear out in public? WE are in love with Rivet & Sway! Have you heard of them? They are a fashionable eyeglass company that sends you three pairs to try on in the comfort of your home! You simply choose the one you love {like this beautiful style, Pillow Talk in Bermuda Blue}, and then send them your prescription from your eye doctor. Better yet, Rivet & Sway has given us a special discount for our readers! Type in promo code ‘Simplysways’ and you will receive $25.00 off your order! So many styles to choose from….we love them all!
We love to cook and bake. One of our loves is Le Creuset. I am sure we all wish we could have a complete set. They bake well and last a lifetime. My red dutch oven is used weekly for pasta or a one pot meal. This beautiful French wear can be used on the stove top and transfer to the oven in one use. The newest color called Rosemary is now available at Sur La Table. Love!
I can’t finish {weekend} lovelies without giving a blurb about my favorite wine on my trip. Though I lost my pictures of Whitehall Lane, I will remember the experience forever. We were there to witness part of the crush with vats of grapes being picked in the rain, coming in by the truckloads. We were blessed to have met one of the owners and were able to walk around their grounds. It made me love their wine even more. If you ever have a chance to visit… I highly recommend it. I hope to one day get back there and relive it with my “real” camera!
