:: Weekend Lovelies // doTERRA Giveaway Winner ::
I love the quote above… it’s such a good reminder that we need to choose joy daily. It’s honestly more of a mindset, don’t you think? Some people are so good at seeing the bright side of things, finding the good in all circumstances, and learning life’s lessons in every trial. For others, it’s definitely a struggle.
I tend to be one of those optimistic people… however lately, I’m not sure if I’d describe myself as such. Life has a way of wearing you out, doesn’t it? I know I’ve written about this before… but for me personally, I get bogged down with the day-to-day things of being a stay-at-home, homeschooling mama to four young children. I have this internal fight in me of wanting to go back to my profession as a school psychologist, but then also wanting to stay home with my kids during these years when they’re little. Of course, there is more than the mundane day-to-day things that get me down at times… it’s also the situational things that arise, as well.
A week ago my youngest son, Finn, had a biking accident. It was so bad that I actually called an ambulance fearing head trauma. In the end, he only lost two front teeth and had cuts, bruises, and swelling on his body and face. I can’t tell you how grateful I am that it wasn’t any worse. I cried for the first few days on and off…. literally mourning his teeth and the pain he endured. Probably the hardest mommy moment was seeing my three year old taken away on a backboard with a neck brace on… being loaded into an ambulance, without me by his side. Husby was at work… hours away, and I had the other three kids to take to the hospital… so we had to follow behind. It was truly heart wrenching. I will say, two hours into our hospital visit {when Finn starting talking to us again}… he asked if he could go for another ride in the ambulance. {I love this kid!} It eased my aching heart to know that he wasn’t traumatized by being alone…
Anyway… I know this isn’t as cheerful as our normal Weekend Lovelies… and I apologize for that! I think it’s always best to keep it real… and let you know what’s going on in my life. The beauty of life’s struggles, is that there is always a moment when you come out of it… more seasoned, more equipped, and more thankful for all that you have. I know for me… I am going to focus on choosing joy daily, regardless of life’s circumstances… focusing on the positives instead of harping on the negatives.
